  • OKPIK Winter Adventure 2018 Camp

    OKPIK WInter Camp Friday 2/23-Sunday 2/25
    Meet at Saint Stephens Methodist Church at 5:30pm leave church by 6:00pm.
    Eat before you come.
    Weather will vary low near 25, high around 60 with a wind chill.
    Dress in layers!
    Packing List:
    Medical Forms – if not already turned in
    Medications- must be listed on medical form
    Class A for travel
    Notebook, pen/pencil
    Long sleeve shirt
    Hoodie- Troop 94 one if you have one
    Long underwear
    Hiking boots
    Extra socks/underwear
    Winter Jacket
    Rain Gear
    Water bottle and or hydration pack
    Headlamp/flashlight or both
    Sleeping bag
    Blanket for extra warmth
    Sleeping pad/cot
    Pillow or use your bag
    cup with handle
    swimsuit and towel for polar swim
    personal toiletries
    Leaders will be Mr. Overall and Mr. Rodman.

    Hello Everyone! 2 announcements.
    Court of Honor 2/12 at the Scout office (next to Tascosa Road Walmart)
    6:00 pm meal if you had signed up
    7:00 pm Ceremony
    If you have not turned in your 2018 medical form please bring it along with copy of insurance card.
    Ski Trip this Friday 16th -19th
    Skiing Sipapu Ski Resort, Valdito, NM
    Staying at Taos Youth & Family Center, Taos NM
    Estimated Cost: $230 per skier- Includes lodging, meals, lift tickets and ski rentals, ski lessons for 1st time skiers
    Friday 2/16- Meet at Church at 12:30 pm. Eat lunch prior to coming.
    17th and 18th Skiing at Sipapu Ski Resort
    19th pack up- head home estimated to arrive back at 2 pm but will send updates.
    Does NOT include cost for:
    Snacks and souvenirs
    Locker money- to lockup personal items while skiing, possible locking skis overnight Saturday.
    Upgrades on rentals
    Helmet rentals ($10/day plus tax)
    Proper ski attire (see packing list)
    We will have access to Lobby area which will include a few video games and pool table.
    Additional information:
    Will be staying indoors at a youth center
    No beds- just hard floor and some chairs
    Easy Breakfast each morning
    Sandwiches and chips for lunch at the slopes and  on the way home.
    Dinner Friday ,Saturday and Sunday night at local fast food restaurant
    Packing List:
    Class A to wear while traveling
    Ski jacket (waterproof not cotton)
    Ski gloves waterproof
    Ski pants- not blue jeans
    Ski googles- if you wear glasses make sure they fit over your glasses
    Thermal tops and bottoms
    Mid layer garments- dress in layers
    Ski Socks (wool or thermal)
    Helmet if not renting (REQUIRED)
    Sleeping bag and cot/padding- floor will be hard
    Toiletries (tooth brush, comb, deodrant, etc)
    Towel for showers
    Sunscreen- (Yes you can get a severe sun burn skiing)

    We will have a brief meeting to fill out rental forms after COH.

    6pm – PLC- plan upcoming events

    7 pm  Troop Meeting

    • Tech Merit Badge- Have Cyber Chip completed prior to meeting!
    • Final sign up for 2/12 COH meal at the Scout Shop $5 per person. Sign up at meeting or let Mellessa Denny know at 806-236-0190,, or via Facebook message.
